A gem (with honey)

FOWC: Gem

I have a shrub
a Honey Gem

Flowers
Lots of them

Tiny insects
against the stem

Sit tall
Look out for them

What a contrast
Noisy Friarbird and Honey Gem

First awake
sings the mornings anthem

Getting a snack here
is never a problem

The flowers
a real ecosystem

The sweet nectar
the Honey Gem

The flower and me
an item

A wonderful flower, Honey Gem
The end, this poem.

Up (floating, flying and wonderment)

Debbies One Word Sunday: Overhead

Yesterdays clouds

The Square-tailed Kite loves to hunt over my place

Our Moon with the early glow of the sunrise

Like most things overhead It’s All Over Now

Foxes in the trees (count them)

Well I am back with more photos of Flying Foxes.

This time I wanted to give you the whole picture and not just one or two close ups

I had to go around to a back street to see if I could get a photo of the whole Flying Fox colony. You can see the trees they are camped in by the defoliation. Too hard to count all of those black spots in the trees?

I tried to do a sequence of the above photo from right to left to help you count.
Hint – there’s more than 12

The two on the middle right are the ones at the bottom left of the above photo. I think it is a mother and young trying to get a feed or two adults being “friendly”.
Hint – there’s more than 20

The next section needed to have a more open photo as the next lot of trees have quite a number of Flying Foxes.
Hint – There’s more than 50

The left hand side of the above trees
Hint – A lot more

Not many in this section of the trees
Hint – Maybe more than 10

A chance to get in closer to make it easy for you
Hint – More than 30

A change of location to photograph the last part of the colony.
Hint – Close to 50

So how did you do? Who gave up trying to count? You can’t see them all as there are some on the other side of the trees where I can’t access. Thanks for having a go.
