If I’m right side up. That means that you are…….don’t even think about it……the blood will rush to your head

You know there’s only one song that I could help you sing along with Steve Miller. My children know this song very well. It was on a mixed tape that was jammed in the car cassette player. Some times it was singing along and at other times of no not again. It probably came on every third day at some stage

An albatross (in the garden)

Whatever is Lovely 2024: Week 13

Today I saw the first Common Albatross Butterflies in my garden

The Common Albatross likes the Tree Heath Trochocarpa laurina flowers and I suspect to lay eggs as well. The butterflies I watched, only one sat on leaves with wings open, the others closed wing on flowers.

They are not the only butterfly on the bush. There lots of Line-blues zipping around. Too fast to photo and never land on flowers I am focussed on. While the Common Albatross has a 53mm 2″ wingspan, Line-blues have a 20mm less than 1″ wingspan.
Here is a tiny Line-blue Butterfly I prepared earlier

The flowers are small butterfly flowers, around 5mm ¼” in diameter

As the very small Line-blue Butterflies like to sup on the flowers nectar, the even smaller White Crab Spider awaits. Balanced on his back atop the flower stalk, he looks like a flower. I thought he was a deformed flower at first from a distance, then realised he was a spider.
By the time I was ready, a butterfly almost fell for the disguise. Would have been the photo of the year. Both spider and butterfly had very fast reactions, the Crab Spider went too early, easily evaded, but close.

The new leaves are a stunning colour

Slowly fade to green

The little berries appear bright green, gradually turning purple before becoming black. These are great snacks for birds. A variety of birds come when the berries are all over the bush, Satin Bowerbirds, Lewins Honeyeaters, Silvereyes, the Finches and Wrens.

The Tree Heath is also the home for birds to raise a family. I am hot sure who was in this nest as I didn’t want to disturb the birds. I think it may be a Yellow-faced Honeyeaters nest as they were everywhere during mating season.

Well that started off with just a photo of the Common Albatross Butterfly. I thought I would explain a bit why they are here too. So now you know a bit about the Tree Heath. One of the local names is Waddy Wood among others. A Waddy is an indigenous war club.

A bloke saw a little indigenous man standing beside a dead Giant Kangaroo, the ‘roo was about 3 times the indigenous man’s size.
Wow said the bloke Who killed this biggun?
I did he said.
You did? the bloke said incredulously How did you kill this Giant Kangaroo?
I did it with my club the man said proudly
What? Your club!! How big is your club?
There’s about twenty-five of us the little indigenous man said. 😁

Last on the Card – March 2024

Last Photo for March

Your last photo doesn’t have to be on the very last day of the month if you didn’t take any photos on that day. Maybe it was earlier in the month when the last photo was taken.

So let’s see what you have for March

The rules are simple:
1. Post the last photo on your SD card or last photo on your phone for the 31st March or whenever your last photo was taken.
2. No editing – who cares if it is out of focus, not framed as you would like or the subject matter didn’t cooperate.
3. You don’t have to have any explanations, just the photo will do
4. Create a Pingback to this post or link in the comments
5. Use the tags The Last Photo and #LastOnTheCard

Here’s mine. Last months photos were another mixed bag.

From my Samsung Galaxy S9

From my Canon PowerShot SX70HS

From my Canon EOS 1300D

Important announcement

As I have been really enjoying designing and creating abstracts from my photos, for the rest of the year I will only be using and creating abstracts for all photo challenges.

Everyone has been liking my creations, whether ones for Water Water Everywhere, Wordless Wednesday or Silent Sunday. This has helped me to this decision so thank you everyone.
