I am here in a way

Yes, I am around still. My computer decided that over Christmas I should have an enforced blog break.

The timing is so wrong as I’ll be home but unable to post as I have to use this tablet or phone to mainly respond to comments.

What is worse is I am unable to download or view my photos on the big screen. Now I wish I had scheduled some posts as I have somethings to share that I thought you would enjoy.

Oh well, I can’t get the assistance I need until next year but still might try to get back on my blog if I can do something myself. Everything seems to work I just don’t have a screen. I bought a new screen yesterday but my computer is old and used to be reliable so the connection cable is different but then again it could be the video/graphics card has packed it in.

Might see what I can pick up in the Boxing Day sales after juggling finances.

Have a fabulous Christmas everyone 😀🎅🎁🌲🥗🥂🤗

  1. Gah! Nothing worse! I can sympathise (in a way) as I too am sans laptop and having to post with my iPad. It’s frustrating because the devices don’t have the same range of functionality and especially for photos, the software, clarity etc. that computers do. I am between schools at the moment so won’t get my new computer until 23rd Jan! Hang in there and maybe it will be Boxing Day sales to the rescue!

  2. Oh, bad luck with that Brian. I’d be lost without a decent size screen to process photos. Maybe it will get better after a rest! My camera has been steadily losing features, the most recent being the LCD screen going out. I can see the image, but it’s just not illuminated. Probably going to have to shell out for a new one next year. Speaking of which, have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

  3. Take the time to be reflective, to read or do whatever takes your fancy. And take lots and lots new photographs to surprise us with in the new year. My pc works (touch wood!) but I won’t have much time, I think, at least from tomorrow onwards. Grandma duties take precedence, naturally.
Have a wonderful time. I envy you the weather. As much as I like cold, crisp, snowy days, I don’t like the grey non-descriptive days we will be having over Christmas. And unlike many Europeans I liked Christmas at the height of summer when we lived in South Africa.
And finally: Guten Rutsch! (most people think it means “Slide well into the New Year” but it is actually derived from Jiddish and Rosh Hashana).

    1. Thanks Elke. My mornings will be different and time taken to play with photos in the evening. Funnily enough it looks like grey skies here like yesterday and today for Christmas. Photo frustration will be the hardest. Merry icicle Christmas 🌲 be a naughty grandma 😁 and a Gluten Rutsch to you 🥂🤗

  4. All I can say is have a merry Christmas and enjoy your break. Hey, you can take this time to learn how to blog from your smartphone. I use my iPhone for all of my blogging activities, so I don’t need a clunky computer and a big screen. But then again, my blog is more text oriented while yours is more photography oriented, so maybe you do, indeed, need a big screen.

    1. Thanks Fandango. Yes a good sized screen and graphics card plus a bit of grunt to run the software. One of the problems is accessing my media files.
      Have a Merry Christmas

        1. That’s great that you’ve got the new system set up–I understand the pain of losing old programs 😩

I’m doing a lot better, thanks for asking. I got hit with another bout of the flu at the end of last month and it’s still hanging around. Tested -ve for COVID, but lost my sense of smell and taste for a few weeks. It’s starting to come back slowly.

As for the book, I decided to let it breathe a bit before diving back into the rewrites–starting them in January. (I think the Universe conspired to make me do it.) But, I did have a quick read of the first chapter the other day and it didn’t suck! 😆

I hope you’re doing well. All the best for a healthy, joyous, and prosperous 2023 when it comes to you. xxx

        2. Glad you are doing OK. A re-read and happiness is good for the manuscript.
I am OK in a way, just getting on as best I can thanks.
Hope you have a wonderful NYE with our Jez 🙂

    1. Thanks Tracy, sorry for not getting back earlier, found you in the trash folder. I guess it’s Happy New Year now. New computer bought yesterday (Merry Christmas to me) so set up day today but still have to locate all the software authorisation numbers.
      Hope your Christmas was fabulous

      1. It’s gone well thanks Brian. I kicked off the day with my traditional delivery in ETS2. Then we were joined by one of my Wife’s brothers and her sister for brunch and dinner with a game of Monopoly in between😎👍

    1. I bought a new computer yesterday so set up day today. Isn’t it good to actually write. My handwriting isn’t as good as it was since using a keyboard, it used to be so neat and legible. It still is readable just more scrawl like

      1. Changing computers is hard! And what to do with the old one…? I’m still writing by hand. We had Covid for Christmas and I’m still too tired to sit at the computer. Good luck getting your new one ready for all your lovely photos!

        1. Yes it has been a pain. Downloading from my camera is a proving difficult to do it as I want. Hopefully when my tech assistance returns from holidays all will be well 🙂

  5. We are so reliant on computers these days that I completely felt your ‘I am here, in a way’. I scooted ahead to today’s post and can see you’re in the process of mastering a new one. You’ve reminded me to back up mine as it is clearly faltering. It has twice broken already because of a faulty hinge (!?).
