A Pineapple in my garden. I just missed the flowers. This is the fifth

You will have to wait for another four months Teresa. I shall be putting up progress photos. There is the optimum time to pick pineapples so they are sweet and juicy. I have to get to it before the possums. I may even make a better fence this year 🙂

Wow. Did not know you could grow them in your part of the world, Brian. Have you ever beaten the possums to them?

I didn’t think so either Tracy. They aren’t supposed to have more than one too. Yes I have had the last ones after the disappointment of one being half consumed by possums. They are small and delicious, about a quarter size

I love the small rough pineapples. Haven’t had one in years.

I have a small patch that haven’t done much but they don’t get the amount of water they need. That one has been in that garden for over ten years now and is on a watering trail. They are a species of Bromiliad

Oh, that’s a great shot! I’ve only seen them when they’re ripe in the shops.

Thanks Susan, that’s grown from a pineapple top cut off and planted 🙂

I have a small patch of five others that are slow growing as I don’t have the amount of water they really need to flourish.
They are basically Bromiliads 🙂

How exciting to grow your own tasty treat! If you get to it first …

I wish I could have a food garden but they even got through Fort Knox, a fenced garden I thought they couldn’t get in. Only a small hole is enough or a weak point and they’re in.
They say grow and extra 10% for animals and birds but no one told them that they are restricted to 10% or 10% isn’t a bit from every plant until it equals 10% 😧

They don’t look at the notices, those creatures. Maybe teach them to read?
