Pick a Word – September 2021

Lost in Translation – Thursdays Special – Pick a Word September 2021

Paulas words made me think for a while. This morning the Female Satin Bowerbirds came into the garden looking for a bit of nectar from the Yamba Sunshine Grevillea which was fortuitous for reachable.

REACHABLE

I have a few photos of boats but this sailing boat in Genoa was the best for docked

DOCKED

Linkage had to be a chain and a rusty one is even better

LINKAGE

I couldn’t find anything straight away and then I remembered the horses who had a short disagreement. I don’t know what infuriated one of them

INFURIATED

Last week on a walk in the park prior to another lockdown at my besties area, I found a hat on a post and thought “that may come in handy” and here is a post behatted

BEHATTED

A hunt for red

Patti from the Lens-Artists sent us on a scavenger hunt to hunt for things that are Red

I had to go to town yesterday so I set out to find a few things from around town instead of my usual combing my place for bits of red among the nature that abounds here at times.

Here is what I found
A red post and a fortuitous red car driving pst20200127_blog challenge_red_post_car
A red motorbike at a service station with bits of red everywhere20200127_blog challenge_red_motorbike
A red ute livening up the street

I just happened to be near the Fire Station when the truck came out of the station20200127_blog challenge_red_fire truck
OK I did lie. I had to include the miniature red Hibiscus in my garden that are just flowering as there has been good rainfall over the past two weeks20200127_blog challenge_red_hibiscus_garden_durranbah

This is the way to go

The word prompt from the Lens-Artists: Weathered or Worn

Just at the top of my street is an old town distance post. In the horse and buggy days, this part of the road was the way to get from Grafton to Glen Innes. The initials of the towns have long faded as has the distance numbers. If there is a bush fire in the area, this is old wooden post is one of the things that I try to keep safe.

Abstract – Images from my lens

The word prompt from Ragtag Daily Prompt: Abstract

I love this theme. I often think of photography as art as well as capturing life in the moment. I have quite a number of photos that I have deliberately taken in a folder called “Arty Ones”

All of these photos are what I saw with my minds eye. None have been altered or enhanced. Many involve shadows or water as they can provides many abstract images. I hope you enjoy my Abstract images.

Brian Eno’s music can be abstract. This track Reflections suits what I try to do

Reflection on the Floor

The word prompt from Nancy: Reflection

So many photos with a reflection from glass or water but this time something different

The reflection from the stained glass windows onto the polished floor of the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona.

This Is My Post

This is a tale of a fence post, a Spangled Drongo and a Noisy Friarbird  –  as told by the Spangled Drongo.

What started out as a normal day, you know, a bit of flying about, some singing with my mates and looking for insects and other snacks around the place.
I always drop onto this fence post nearly every day. It’s a great perch to see if any insects or bugs are moving about in the garden or on the grass.

As you can see, This is My Post.

A mate was flying past and he said “Hey, can I come for a visit to your post”spangled drongo_my post2_named_home_oct 2018
Sure, but I don’t really like anyone sitting up here on my post.spangled drongo_my post3_named_home_oct 2018

Oh, that’s OK. I’ll just hang on this side if that’s alright with you.
spangled drongo_my post4_named_home_oct 2018

And then, out of the blue, this big ugly bloke decides to sit on MY post. Oi, you. Get off my post
spangled drongo_my post5_named_home_oct 2018

Yeah. Right. get down there. This is my post.
spangled drongo_my post6_named_home_oct 2018

Suddenly, he looks at me and of all things, he pokes his tongue out.
spangled drongo_my post7_named_home_oct 2018

Well, that’s not on. You better get off now.
spangled drongo_my post8_named_home_oct 2018

Oh I see. You want to make a bit of a do about sitting on my post do you?
spangled drongo_my post9_named_home_oct 2018

Cop that buddy. Just get away.
spangled drongo_my post91_named_home_oct 2018

No you don’t. You can’t get back on there. This is my post.
spangled drongo_my post92_named_home_oct 2018

OK you. I don’t want to sit on the ground. I am a bird who likes to sit on posts.
spangled drongo_my post93_named_home_oct 2018

Well I am really afraid buddy. This is MY post
spangled drongo_my post96_named_home_oct 2018

I better be off then. I don’t want to sit on the ground and argue with you and your stupid post. I’m going, see ya.
spangled drongo_my post94_named_home_oct 2018

I’ve had enough of hanging around here. I going as well. I will be back later and sit there. Because, This is My Post
