My supplementary photos for Becky’s square photo challenge: In the Pink
I have a quite a number of Begonias in pots around the house, in the shade house and on the verandahs. I fell in love with Begonias many years ago, mainly for their leaf colour and structure. I don’t know any of the names of the individual plants. Some are just Rex begonia or Painted Leaf types. I really should sit down and try to work all of the different plants I have shouldn’t I?
All the photos were taken over the past few days.
I propagate by leaf cuttings. Have been known to “borrow” a leaf from plants I come across in various locations.
I will start with the leaves.
I love the leaf on this Begonia. As you can see, the leaf starts off red and the has shades of pink.
This leaf has texture as well as a blend of colours.
Another leaf with texture and spots of pink.
This one is similar to the above. You can see other Begonias in the background
Now for the flowers
Shades of pink with subtle spots on a very hairy stem. The leaf shape in the background
This pink has come out more of a light tangerine. It really is pink.
The leaf seen in this shot of the flower is red. The flowers white with prominent pink spots again a hairy stem.
The profusion of pink flowers. This is in a pot in the garden and the possums haven’t found it. The leaves when in shade are almost black and dark green in the partial sun.
The same type of plant to the one above only this one is in the shade house.
One of the first Begonias I got. A rather boring leaf but the flowers are lovely. This one is in the sun room.
There so many Begonia species. This list is huge

If you want to join in here are a few ideas from Becky.
The theme for squares this month is ‘In the Pink‘ and the one rule as always is that your main photograph must be square. After that the world is your oyster, or should I say flamingo?! To help you get started here are some ideas you might want to consider;
- ‘In the Pink’ – means perfect condition or in good health, so that could be human or not!
- ‘Tickled Pink‘ – means delighted, so I’m thinking happy, fun and of course delighted. That could be you or the subject of your photograph.
- Pink – you can of course simply share anything that is coloured pink
- There is an extra challenge for those of you up for it – can you manage to combine two of these, or maybe even all three?
Squares is a daily challenge, so your photographs can be from the archives or brand new. Don’t forget though to keep your photo square, and to pingback with #InthePink.
