More Doors of France

Dan’s Thursday Doors

I think there may be a few more French doors to find. The first two are doors from Beaune, a charming village in the Burgundy region not far from Dijon.

The everything going for it door – the surrounds, transom windows about and more carvings plus it is a grand door

This door also had carvings around it. There must have been a reason I cut them out. Perhaps the most of annoyances, something blocking the best photo point.

I think this looks like quite official doors in Avignon. I like Avignon and have been a couple of times.

One of the adventure day out while in Avignon was to go to Baux de Provence. A immense and superb stone hilltop fortress, the village has been painstakingly restored and less than 500 people live there. Baux is now a living museum

I love the wicker look

Back in Dijon

Dan’s Thursday Doors

Meanwhile back in Europe, THE place for fabulous doors, we find ourselves once more in Dijon.

Ginormous doors. Look at the size of the hinges.

A door that is also a gate. I suspect it was the front of a house once.

Another door gate in it’s fabulous red

An ancient door tucked into an alcove

Going back to France

Dan’s Thursday Doors

These are a few doors from various places in France. First up is a rather ornate door in Lyon set in beautifully carved stone doorway and lintel

One reason I like to go to Lyon is to eat at Cafe Joseph with it’s cheerful green door. Unfortunately last time we were there I went to book for dinner. He said he no longer did evenings and he said that he was closing. It must be sad for the locals and office workers nearby as it was always packed at lunchtime.

Some of the doors in Avignon seen quite old

and some of the doors in Les Baux de Provence, just up the road from Avignon seem older still.
Baux is high on a hill and has been inhabited for millions of years. A French geologist Pierre Berthier discovered a red rock rich in alumina that he called bauxite, the main ore for the production of aluminium.

Debbie’s One Word Sunday: Skyline

While everyone at the Arc de Triomphe looking towards Place de la Concorde and at the Luxor Obelisk at the other end of the Champs-Elysées , I went to the other side where it was less crowded

Time for the table of memories

Debbie’s Six Word Saturday

A wonderful cafe in Avignon. It was so funky. Upstairs was also a library. Some friends were there a few years ago and I told them about this place with wonderful food but unfortunately it wasn’t operating any more.

I loved the table lights

I don’t really have any Autumn leaves as I don’t really have Autumn here. These leaves are Autumn leaves in Lyon

Something I found on a walk on my place after the fires. First time I have ever seen Purple Fringe Lillies here.

It was fun going through my folders on this treasure hunt. A great idea Tina
