One day at the seed bowl

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Pairs

There used to live in my street a number of people, who have since moved on, who used to put out bird seed mainly for the parrots. Since then I have a pair of King Parrots who come to the trees around the house and whistle. I don’t like to feed the birds but I have a bowl of seed I put out every now and then for this pair of King Parrots.

They are a couple and it is thought that they mate for life, that is why there is nearly always a pair of King Parrots in my garden.

He always lets her eat first when they arrive on the verandah together. Keeping a wary eye on me.

Shattered

Laura’s manic Monday 3 Way Prompt: Shattered

The Green Glass Goblet
sat upon the shelf.
Luminous.
A present from afar.
Never touched by lips,
never held a liquid.
Just for looking at.
It wasn’t priceless
That Green Glass Goblet.
It was always there.
She always looked at
The Green Glass Goblet
One day, she thought,
I shall take it down
and take a drink.
“Life’s just a cocktail party on the street”
But not until Mother
had passed
for Mother forbade
anyone to touch
The Green Glass Goblet

It was a Summers day
when she laid Mother to rest.
Afterwards she came back
to the house
where she spent her life.
Looking after Mother
Looking after the tiny cottage
Looking at The Green Glass Goblet.
Sitting in the kitchen
she thought of the day,
she thought of Mother
and her insistence
that everything had a place.
“All this chitter-chatter, chitter-chatter, chitter-chatter ’bout
       Shmatta, shmatta, shmatta”
She thought of the Summer,
perspiration trickling down her back.
Going to the fridge
the cool bottle in her hand
she went to the cupboard
but her eyes went to
The Green Glass Goblet.

Is this the day?
Can I really do it?
What would Mother say?
  “Ah look at me….I’m shattered”
Perhaps I will have to wash
The never touched
Green Glass Goblet.
Drying her sweaty palms
on the pinafore that
Mother insist she wear,
“Look at me, I’m in tatters!  I’m a shattered”
a trembling hand reached
straining upwards
to the shelf
where upon sat
The Green Glass Goblet.

With her treasure
finally in her hands
she opened the bottle
Champagne
What better way
to drink
from the Green Glass Goblet
“Love and hope and sex and dreams”
The bubbly liquid
spilled from the bottle
into the Green Glass Goblet
Lifting it to her lips
she murmured
To Mother
At last
A drink from
The Green Glass Goblet
“Laughter, joy, and loneliness and sex and sex and sex and sex
Look at me, I’m in tatters
        I’m a shattered”
The Champagne
bubbled at the corners
of her mouth.
Running down her neck
onto that pinafore
Mother insisted she wear
in case of a situation
just like this.
Laughing
she let the Green Glass Goblet
slip from her fingers.
“Does it matter? (shattered)
      Does it matter?”

New day

The word prompt from Debbie at Travel With Intent: New

Every day is a new day.
The past is left behind
Looking towards the sun
as it rises over the ocean
Thoughts turn to what
may lay ahead.
190106_blog_challenge_new_1sunrise
The journey starts.
Driving down the road
towards the sun
Hoping the spectacular
days start
will deliver promises untold
190106_blog_challenge_new_2sunrise

The day shows our Moon
A half Moon
A time of light
A time of surprise
The light of the Sun
Bring our Moon into our life.
190106_blog_challenge_new_3sunrise_moon1
When our Moon
shows her full splendor,
a spectacle in the day.
Lighting our way
through the troubles
Needing her grace.190106_blog_challenge_new_3sunrise_moon2
We head into the sunset
A new day delivered
Sitting by the water
as the fishers return
Thoughts turn to where we were
and to what may occur190106_blog_challenge_new_1sunset_fishing_boat

Watching,
waiting
as the day decends
with the setting sun
Seeing the glimmer of new life
in the darkness.

Waiting for our Moon
to bring the shadows
of the night
into the light
so we can once more
look towards a new day.190106_blog_challenge_new_3sunrise_moon3

Once more the sun rises
lighting a new day
the start of a new adventure
a new day beckons
