Dan’s Thursday Doors

Peacock and Jones is a relaxed and intimate restaurant tucked away in an old sandstone warehouse on Hobart’s iconic waterfront set within the charismatic sandstone of the IXL jam factory building.
Much of the inspiration behind the restaurant comes from its location. The sandstone warehouses of Hunter Street, a place steeped in colonial history. The jam factory began in 1891

Fascinating

I love everything about this; the use of old architecture, the history, those big doors.

Thanks Crystal 😀 I was just going to post the doors but I had to look up where they were then I dived into the history as they didn’t look like restaurant doors

Imposing doors for a restaurant, and such a small handle for it. It must work well!

That door is rather foreboding; it seems incongruous with such a name as Peacock & Jones, which sounds like a great name for anything. That label is a beauty! One has to admire a jam factory — what gifts they give to our tables!

I thought it was a strange name for a restaurant too. The design work for labels back then was fantastic
