On the phone (in a red box)

Dans Thursday Doors

The first one is a red phone box I found in an Australian museum. The red phone boxes have all been removed due vandalism and the prevalence of mobile phones. In some cases, in their place, are areas where people can connect using free Wi-Fi. I didn’t take a photo of these sites as they don’t have doors 😂
That green rotary dial telephone in the phone box wasn’t what was used.
I wish now I took a photo inside the phone box.

I found these two in London

  1. These are great doors, Brian.

When I visited London, I used the WiFi at one converted Red Box to determine how I had gotten lost. I was walking, but I’d written down detailed notes. I followed the wrong “exit” from a roundabout with five points (because of the way we drive in the US).

I love that some of these are being converted. They’re mostly gone in the states, except for some that are inside of buildings. Then again, our outside boxes were more utilitarian looking.

  2. Love these wonderful red phone boxes. I love seeing photos of them and also the revived ones in various locations alway add charm to a sidewalk ( I feel). Wonderful share, the photos as excellent. Ah I remember that type of phone, in the phone box, that color to be exact…long time ago…LOL

  3. So distinctive for London with the red phone booths. When we got rid of the rotary phone to get touchtone, the AT&T tech had never seen a rotary phone before and seemed fascinated by it. 🙂

      1. Thanks for this video Brian – I enjoyed it. I’m glad they finally figured out they had to take the phone off the hook! We had a party line when we lived in Canada. And a noisy neighbor who “listened in” … Margaret Wilson was the epitome of busybody!

  4. You certainly won’t see phone boxes on our street corners either. On a recent visit to England it was lovely to see quite a few. The very young have no clue what they are. 😆
