Dan’s Thursday Doors
A while ago my mate and I went on a day trip to Inverell. It was a cold,
overcast, winters day and once on top of the Gibraltar Range you could
see it was going to be cold. Away from the protection of the escarpment
the wind buffeting the trees made me glad I had warm clothes and a scarf.
We did venture out of the car a couple of times for a quick walk the
street or have a lunch or to have a look at something. One stop was this
church and its striking red doors with fabulous hinges. The grey drizzly
day made getting these doors look as good was hard.

The front doors

Handsome doors!

Such a beautiful framing of the door!
I love doors, going to check out Dan’s Thursday Doors.
I don’t understand how you manage to participate in so many photo challenges Brian. It’s fun, but time goes by too fast when you’re having fun. 😀 Guess you are well organized 😂😁

Thanks Anita. I have lots of photos to fit most challenges. I am addicted to photo challenges I must confess. I’ll have a go at most but some are favourites ones to do. Do have a look at Dan’s doors entries, maybe be inspired 🙂

Do so. I am sure you will have some fabulous doors near you.
I dig around the folders or if I have a brilliant idea, pop out and take a photo or two for the challenges 🙂

Beautiful door, Brian. The shape is rarely seen today. It’s like a step into the distant past.

Thanks Marsha. From a time when there were craftsmen who took care and pride in their work 🙂

Excellent craftsmen. We went to Florence and saw a door there that had taken one man 50 years to carve! Can you imagine?

Hahaha. I think artisans were given living allowances by wealthy sponsors. He probably did all right. 🙂

Is that an Episcopal church? The pointed arched doors and the narrow sharp arch windows look like so many I’ve seen over here. I love the red doors and those black iron hinges.

It is a Presbyterian church built in 1878. The red doors are so good and the ornate black hinges accent so well 🙂

My fingers were freezing as well 🙂

Oh no! You need some fingerless gloves with wee mitten flaps for when you’re taking photos.

A good idea but I would experience cold cold fingers like that one in every three or four years 😂
