Yes it was quite alive. I was tempted to touch but the “dust” moths have is a sort of protective coating and comes off like a fine powder

I think the sun came up and the moth thought “Oh shit, where am I going to hide for the day and be inconspicuous.”
I didn’t check later to see if it was still there. The wingspan is about 4inches!
