Denzil’s Nate Photo Challenge #7: Tulips and Magnolias
At first I thought that I didn’t have anything to contribute, then I saw Sarah’s black Tulips in Holland Park London and I knew where I had some photos.
A few years ago we went to Tasmania and they have a tulip farm, the Table Cape Tulip Farm. The weather wasn’t all that good and swung from sunny to cloudy to rain. Of course I took a few photos. Here are some black Tulips that jogged my memory in the foreground

The colours are fabulous

I wonder if these will be selected as a cultivar or discarded as not perfect. I like them

The rows stretched such a long way

So lovely to stroll along the rows

I like the yellow Tulips

They stood out although this photo isn’t very good

Some of the Tulips were just amazing

I only found one Magnolia photo. I have no idea where or when and cannot find any others

These are stunning!!!

“The weather wasn’t all that good and swung from sunny to cloudy to rain.” That sounds like a pretty good description of Wynyard weather in early spring.
I remember how excited I was the first time I got to visit the Table Cape Tulip Farm.. Now we live about 15 minutes’ drive from it so I can see the tulips every year. 🙂 . I love the reds and the sunny yellows but the black ones are so striking. It’s hard to pick a favourite. At the end of October or thereabouts they dehead the flowers and when the foliage has died down, they collect the bulbs. I’ve never been to Floriade either, hope I can some day and I’d love to go to Holland.

I love the almost abstract nature of the stripes! And I’m glad my black tulips reminded you of these ones, it’s great to see them growing in such quantities!

Thank you Sarah especially for kicking my memory into gear. A lot of the photos weren’t all that good as the day wasn’t the best weather wise hence the “abstract” feeling in the photos 😁

Tulip Gardens have been on my mind for so long..wonder when it would materialize! I saw them for the first time in a Bollywood song when I was a kid and that scene is stuck in my head. See from around 40 seconds onwards:

Oh looks like you’ve not seen much of Bollywood 😀…there are several songs shot in Australia too! Let me know if you’d like to see and I will send some links 😀

I watched Bollywood movies when we ran an Indian cafe on a Friday night in our cafe.
The chef was very entertaining who cooked the most amazing meals. He is Australian of Indian decent but sometimes put on an Indian accent when talking to some customers which was so funny. I have seen some set in Australia and been bemused by the switch of locations in a song that are thousands of kilometres apart 🙂

Thanks for sharing your memories Brian 😀. Bollywood, in my opinion, is mostly about entertainment – one goes to the theater and forgets about the challenges of one’s own life for those 2-2.5 hours 🙂. Songs and dance sequences shot in lovely locations all across the world, are part of that experience.
