Those are so stunning! I really love the shot with the black background. May I ask how you did that? (I’m super new to photography). Thanks!

Thank you.
I think that the flowers were in good sunlight and I found where the shadows were deepest.
In my Corel PaintShop Pro Ultimate 2023 software, I darken using shadows and a hint of brightness added with overall brightness.
To full blacked the background added black. Also have to keep fiddling around with brightness on the flowers as the whole image blackens but mainly the background.
The software is ever so good but does cost a bit, but well worth it.
I have been following your photos for a while now. Sometimes I’ll comment but I don’t want to butt in as someone will let you know about a photo I guess.

I still have so much to learn. My dad bought me editing software for my birthday (ON1 Photo RAW) but I need to do a deep dive to find out if it can do something like that. It seems everyone I talk to uses a different camera and editing software than me. I hope to be able to invest in new gear at some point, but I would very much benefit from learning a lot more first.
I really appreciate you taking the time to explain your process to me.
Next year I plan on taking a few online classes so I can grow further. Thank you for your advice and support.

Leanne Cole sometimes posts hints using ON1. This is a recent post of hers

Just beautiful. I’ve never seen these two-petaled begonias before.

They are not tuberous begonias so I guess the flowers may be different.

Thanks Marilyn. They are called Rex Begonias as a common name. I grow them for the leaves more so than the flowers
