Bright and beautiful. We have the red hibiscus here. It is thought be the original one. And most of the others hybrid.

This one is one my Mother had in her garden so I don’t think it is a hybrid but I could be wrong. It is a Hibiscus rosa-sinensis first found in 1750? and is the national flower of Malaysia

This red one is not a hybrid. In our place, people eat the petals as medicine and also make rasam from it. Other hibiscus flowers are not used in that way.

I had to look up rasam as I had not heard of it. How disappointing that there are so many different recipes but none included Hibiscus flowers. It sounds like a good winter warm up soup 🙂

Glancing at the comments, always interesting what people use medicinally and in cuisine, Brian. I’d be sure to pick the wrong one!

Very Colourful!
Such a coincidence, just minutes ago I read a short story from an Indian friend who talks about feeling the comfort of home when making rasam – sour and spice! 🙂

Oh yes, I like your photos Brian. Children’s jungle gyms are great for this challenge. I do love the classic car too! 😀
