and their songs are wonderful too

I looked for them on YouTube. I don’t think I’d call their songs “noisy” at all. MY songs yes, theirs, no.

Well we had some new birds at our place too but no offense, much better looking than the Noisy Friarbird. Ironically it is called a Black-Bellied Whistling Duck. There were three on our shed and probably at least three more in the tree in the next yard. I will put a post with pictures of them.

What a strange bird! It reminds me of the Skeksis from Dark Crystal.

I’d rather not!

They have babies?! I mean they are called “friars” (which I quite understand given the way they look).

Inquiring mind(s) want to know…what kind of bird, and what is the purpose of the bump on its beak? Is it so it doesn’t peck too far into a tree or the ground?

It is a Noisy Friarbird, a honeyeater species. I don’t know about the bump, maybe it is a sighting thing lol

Thank you for the clarification. I remember you sharing a honeyeater before. Lots of sweet nectar in your part of the world?

I have planted so many Grevilleas so the Honeyeaters of all types flock to my garden

I had to read the comments to figure out what it was. Looks like a cross between a vulture and a pterodactyl!
