Sadie’s What do you See
The image to work with

Euclid
Pythagoras
A mystery to me
Some say
Geometry
I say angles
axioms
lines
planes
spacial relationships
(my bestie and me)
circles and rectangles
Pie (not Pi)
I need
a protractor?
but on my farm
I need
a tractor
But a set square?
I only have
Becky’s Squares
which do me fine
But do I need
to know
the shapes
the size
the dimensions
of things
around my house
I need to
know
what bird
that sings
not the
workings
of many things
From my schooling
Pythagoras
and Euclid
my mind has hid.
Mine too! The odd bit of classical history but absolutely nothing mathematical- trust me! Love your poem.

Oh Brian, you’ve got it summed up perfectly! I seem to have struggled on perfectly well without Arithmetic, Geometry and Algebra (especially algebra).

Thanks Margaret. Basic stuff was fine but when the ABC were added it was WTF???

I guess geometry wasn’t your favorite subject Brian! Thanks a lot for joining in. Loved your poem.

Thanks Paula. I don’t mind basic geometry as I use it building and repairing things I guess but once it gets into rhombic dodecahedron is a convex polyhedron with 12 congruent rhombic faces … The last two correspond to the B2 and A2 Coxeter planes 😲🤪😂

Excellent poem, Brian! I love the weaving in of your life and the laidback flow of the words–it feels like a word photograph of you.

Loved your poem and guess a lot of people can relate to that. I was quite good at school until algebra and geometry were introduced into the curriculum. Quite good with basic mathematics and very good with finance, but algebra? Cue for a song here – I Get Along Without You Very Well.

Thank you Marie. We are on the same page there. Numbers and basic geometry was OK but why ABC and have to complicate things 🙂

Oh my I’m honoured to be mentioned in this fantastic poem. What a treat.
I thought I liked algebra and statistics until I took it at A level (ATARs) and those studies soon cured me of that 😂

It just came naturally when the word square came to mind of course I always would think of you ❤ Statistic is still an attraction for me though but just basic stuff. When I had to do a bit of stats in my Uni course, that was a nightmare but at least there was a computer program as long as the input was correct 😲😃

Yes the basic stuff is fun, but what i did at A level was definitely not fun and didn’t help the teachers were not impressed by my efforts!
