This is a Xerochrysum viscosum variety, a Summer flowering daisy. It is also known as Sticky Everlasting, Yellow Paper Daisy, Shiny Everlasting or Golden Everlasting Daisy.
Waiting to greet the day.

Open and feeling good

Starting to feel its age

Closing to protect the seeds and changing colour

It is finally over

I was taken by the flowers all on the one group of flowers

Your photos capture their beauty, so often we pass by the dead ones but when you look closely it has its charms.

I agree with that Heather. I didn’t take any photos of the roses I saw yesterday regretfully

I loved the idea of the sequence of alive – dead of the flowers but there is a feeling sadness in that last image of the drooping, dead flower which I find a bit unsettling. I think I like the sunny, uplit hills!

There can be beauty in the dead flower knowing that the seeds are ready to begin a new life

Or as we in the US know them as strawburst flowers. Because that’s what they feel like. 😀

I didn’t know they were a native flower anywhere else in the world. Thanks Cee 🙂

Almost too good to be true, but what an unhappy ending!

Great little illustrated narrative. The cycle of life in nature, which I think is wonderful.

Probably not. It’s a fair drive and I wonder if I could find them in the bush again 🙂
