I had a truck
it was a big truck
I was a small child
I would ride around on my truck
my mother said
I still have my truck
it’s made of pressed metal
the driver still sits proud
old and worn
but will always be loved

Boomaroo is an amalgamation of Boomerang and and Kangaroo. This one is from around 1955 or 1958. The trucks were made from 1955 to 1960. There is a similar one for sale on e-bay for $900
This is the information from the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences in Sydney about my truck
This is the one in the museum

How fabulous that you still have it!

It is one toy my Mum thought was worth not giving away. Most of my other toys she gave to less fortunate children

Your truck shows all the signs of loved and well-used.
My favourite toy was a doll and a hand-me down pram. I was a little mother from the age of three. 🙂

I had a few hand me downs as well Sue. I even had a hand me down doll I loved called Susie. A cloth doll with ceramic head (the eyes used to close), lower arms and legs 🙂

I bought my son (my youngest) a doll when he was two. I was attempting to show him how to be gentle following a couple of incidents of worrying jealousy with a friend’s newborn.
I still have the doll, it became my baby clothes model when I used to knit. Now, the younger granddaughters play with it whenever they’re here.

Tabitha is loving her wheeled toys too, but she doesn’t have anything as splendid as your truck yet.

Your truck looks well-loved, Brian. It looks like my brother’s trucks, but his didn’t make it past childhood. 🙂
