Square Trees #26 – Fig Tree Avenue

Becky’s Square Photo Challenge July: Square Tree

In my town of Grafton, there is an avenue of Fig Trees. This is one of my favourite places and a great tourist draw card. During Summer it is so cool in the street. Of course it is in the posh end of town with the river over to the right.

Anyway, here’s your song for today

  1. Goodness, those are whoppers! Puts mine to shame, but it’s fruiting and I’m happy, Brian. Even happier that James arrived last night. I’m grinning like an idiot while I wait for everyone to wake up. Have an excellent week, sir!

    1. I bet you figs are hundreds of times the size and actually taste wonderful. I am so happy for you to have James there. Don’t wait, go and wake them with appropriate enthusiasm 😂 I know you will have a fabulous week Jo 🤗💕

      1. ooh thanks for naming them. Was wondering if they were native, and also how different they are to the figs we are more used to in Europe. Don’t think our figs would grow into an avenue like this!

It then got me exploring and I was amazed to learn there are hundreds and hundreds of figs varieties, apparently only around a dozen or so are cultivated.

        1. There are a lot aren’t there. The ones on this side of the world are so different especially the tropical ones. The big one at K’s old place started to drop limbs as big as a horse. Luckily the tree was in a paddock but the limbs always fell onto the track going down to her studio so it was my chainsaw and I to the rescue

    1. I do enjoy going over there every now and then. A fabulous avenue of trees. I probably should have taken one from in the middle too 🙂 🙂
