Anita’s from For the Love of blog Photo Challenge Amazing Stonework
A new photo challenge I found at Cee’s
I was walking around the nearest town to my place, Grafton, while waiting for my car repair. I have been taking photos of the tops of the buildings where there is a date of construction.
One of the oldest buildings is the Post Office. Constructed of sandstone it is quite a lovely building. I looked and looked and knew there must be a date on the front of the building somewhere.
It took a while but then I noticed on one part on the right hand side of a middle section

and the other part on the right hand side

Quite an imaginative architect and brilliant stonemason.
that is really good craftsmanship 🙂 nice find BB

Is that read as 1847 or 1874?

That is 1874. The earlier post office was a wooden structure
