The Bird Weekly Photo Challenge – Birds Beginning With “G” in The Title
Last weeks post I used all of the colour birds, the Greys and the Greens, so this week is just the G birds. Not as many as last week (phew I hear you say) just a few.
I have some not so good photos as I was sneaking through the wetland and bits of water plants, reeds etc were in the way, so lets start with those.
Magpie Geese

Australasian Grebe – first the adult and then the young chicks

A Glossy Black Cockatoo

A Galah

Silver Gulls

Hello

The galah reminds me of our mourning doves, although they don’t have that red. Geese=poop machines!! Love that last shot.

Thanks janet. Ducks and geese are poop machines indeed 😀

But ducks aren’t aggressive the way geese are so I don’t mind them as much.

Watch out for Muscovy Ducks at breeding season. Not as aggressive as Geese but will have a go

There are two at the Preserve but they’re usually in the water or tucked up on the shore somewhere. Although ducks aren’t generally aggressive to humans, when food’s involved, other ducks beware!!

Wonderful “G” birds this week! It is that time of year here for baby birds. I love the baby grebe. I have to wonder if those Magpie Geese are as obnoxious as the Magpies themselves. Great shot of the Galah! You put a big smile on my face with the last shot. Peek-a-boo….I see you! LOL! 🙂

These are all great photos, but I especially like the glossy black cockatoo and galah. One of my WordPress poet friends is Australian and posted a recent poem about galahs. I told him I can’t imagine seeing these birds in the wild.

Thank you Susan. Seeing one or two every now and then is a delight. I am yet to see a flock of hundreds 🙂 🙂

Cockatoos are a group I don’t get to see around me. The Galah, in particular, was a spectacular new one.
