In the garden

Life in Colour: Purple

The Iris I discovered in a garden in a town we visited last weekend, Tenterfield. It is a town on the Tablelands not far from mine or my besties place. There were some flowers in the gardens but the weather is turning a bit cooler and up on the tablelands it is much cooler than here. When we left home it was 22C, reaching Tenterfield it was 16C with a cool wind blowing.

Some flowers were still blooming while some had had their show.

  1. I don’t know if I dare say it, but isn’t that blue, Brian? πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ It’s very beautiful and it could, of course, be my laptop, distorting things….. Sorry πŸ™‚ You have to laugh, don’t you?

    1. The camera sort of didn’t quite capture the purple but I know what I saw. I was thinking of making it more purple in the post-photo program but what the hey, Jude has given some latitude. I did have a wry smile when I posted πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

      1. I concede that iris is usually a purple tone. Whoever said the camera doesn’t lie… was lying πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ And I’ve already put Jude right about her pink rose. I knew I wouldn’t get your hackles to rise, Brian πŸ™‚

    2. It is a lovely inky-blue but if you look closely there are shades of purple on the flowers. Fits into both purple and violet on the darker palette I would say, but I know darn well you will ignore me!

      1. I agree Jude. The Iris in the photo is not totally purple but does fit the palette. It was hard to get right as it was in late afternoon shade. I always listen Jude πŸ™‚

  2. Very dark violet blue I would say with a hint of purple on the buds. Whatever colour we decide to call it, I think this is my favourite shade of iris along with the dark reddish-purple ones. Luscious! And since I have declared May a free zone for purples and violets to mingle it’s very okay with me!

    1. I realise the goal posts have shifted to accommodate the various shades that’s why I had to post one of my favourite Iris as well Jude. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

    1. My garden is on the downhill to Winter. Many f the insects have left, not as many birds but am expecting a few who live further up the mountains to head down later as it’s warmer during the day here. Bestie time is always a warm time. Cuddles do wonders inside and out πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

      1. Aw, and my garden is just starting to take root in the warmer weather. We finally have rain so maybe things to photograph will appear.
Ah, yes, cuddles do wonders that’s for sure! And they’ll keep you warm over the winter too!
