Once a knight

Ragtag Daily Prompt Thursday: Brandish

Here is a song that I have loved since I first heard it. An Australian group of schoolkids, King Fox, won a Battle of the Bands doing a version of this song.

OK….now onto my
Knight of the Rooves
Always there,
brandishing his fearful very spikey
whatsit
guarding the roof tops
of Paris.
Sir Tuyau de Cheminée
has many other guards
ready to go
at the first sign
of trouble.

All lined up,
their steely gaze
seems to just drift
over your head.
You decide to go
remembering what
has been said
turn to loook
one more time
One day things
will get hot
around here

  1. Found it! This is just the first section of the poem, but my favorite:
    Preludes
    BY T. S. ELIOT
    I
    The winter evening settles down
With smell of steaks in passageways.
    Six o’clock.
The burnt-out ends of smoky days.
And now a gusty shower wraps
    The grimy scraps
Of withered leaves about your feet
    And newspapers from vacant lots;
    The showers beat
    On broken blinds and chimney-pots,
And at the corner of the street
A lonely cab-horse steams and stamps.

And then the lighting of the lamps.

    1. Never mind Tracy. VJ said “Love the way your mind thinks.” I thought you knew me better. Things are always as they seem….or are they 🙂
