Cady’s Photo Challenge: Just One Person Around The World
To acknowledge the traditional lands where we gather sometimes there is a Smoking Ceremony performed by the Indigenous people to welcome us. The people gather around the fire in a circle where green Eucalyptus leaves from the area are burnt giving a scented smoke that pervades the air.
I have been lucky enough to be involved in a few Smoking Ceremonies over the years and it is quite a powerful way of welcome. As the smoke rises, the singing and playing traditional instruments happens. A didgeridoo and clapping sticks plus the singing does send shivers down your spine.
A powerful ceremony to witness and one that I hope continues

Traditions are what make the people! Great photo, but now I want a post on the didgeridoo and clapping sticks, because I never heard of them or seen them! Thanks for joining in this week!

I saw some indigenous people when were there in Australia, in Blue Mountain area, I think. It’s awesome you are involved in the snowing ceremony. Very interesting post, Brian

What snowing ceremony? At Australia? We have so much snow and icicles that some people made snow sculptures on the sidewalk. 🙂
