The invitation has been sent out so come on in and enjoy afternoon tea so it’s time to get ready. Su has put the kettle on so let’s get over to Su’s place for our blogshpere afternoon tea
I am doing well in my isolation as I am isolated most of the time out here in the Australian bush. Plenty to do to pass the time, never bored or lonely.
Last afternoon tea mention was made of an Aussie/NZ afternoon tea specialty, especially for kids and those kids at heart, the fabulous Fairy Bread. I was asked to make some for this weeks afternoon tea. Hope you are ready to enjoy a taste treat.
I didn’t make my Fairy Bread true to tradition as I don’t have soft white bread here, mine is made on sourdough, a bit hipster but there you go.
I hope the sugar hit isn’t too much
oh my, reminds me of sugar bread my sister used to make for me. This though looks as though it might cause a sugar overload!

But isn’t it pretty 😀 😀

Oh wow: you made fairy bread!! Thank you Brian. I was all set to make a slightly grown up version of chocolate crackles, but can’t get puffed millet and can’t quite bring myself to buy rice bubbles.

NO rice bubbles at all Su

It looks delicious – you could be accused of playing mind games! That’s two pictures of ‘Sweet Stuff’ in my head before I even start my day! 🙂

I can imagine! Though with the state of my back today, it will more likely be hobbling!

That’s not good Sue. I’d give you a massage but you know can’t touch others 😀

I understand! I could do without this painful sciatica, you could call it a bit of a bummer! 😂

I have a few gentle one’s that the physio once gave me. They normally help, this time it’s slower to respond. Thank you, Brian 🙂

You are full of smiles today, Brian! Absolutely not my cup of tea, but so pretty, and I dare say the other half would give them a munch. He’s a sugar and bread fan 🙂 🙂

I should have made the Fairy Bread earlier and taken over to the kids across the road. Not my idea of food either, not even as a child 🙂 🙂

I love the look of it, Brian! I don’t mind a sugar hit, right now…haven’t had my daily dose of dessert yet. 🙂

Such a pretty dessert to look and enjoy. I’ll pass them to my other half. He’s got a sweet tooth. It looks like the virus has inspired creative cooking and baking.

Oh yeah Lois, it was fun seeing a bit of what others made. Now to see what happened while I was asleep 🙂

Has all the Fairy bread been eaten up yet? I’m just about to have morning tea.

That made my day, Brian. I lurv fairy bread. It made me think of all those kids parties I used to go to where there would be at least one child who licked the sprinkles off and then left the bread on the serving plate. Joy! What a germfest. Haha.

Yeah….I haven’t made Fairy Bread in a bazillion years 🙂

Another earworm! How I loathed that song, so forgive me if I don’t play it.
The close-up of the fairy bread is so lovely Brian, it would have been perfect for the pattern assignments. As for eating it – bread and sugar are no-nos for us at the moment, although I confess we have been sneaking a bit of bread into the diet lately.

I can well understand Jude on all counts. I am not making Fairy Bread again, such a waste. I very thinly sliced most of the bread. I found you in the spam so glad I did a check this afternoon.

Sigh… I thought I had stopped being sent to spam jail, but noticed that I was disappearing again yesterday.

I’ve never had Fairy bread and was feeling pretty ignorant after everyone’s comments. But I googled ‘fairy bread’ and see that this is an Aussie & NZ specialty. Now I don’t feel so bad 🙂

As a child you would have loved Fairy Bread. As an adult I don’t think the pure sugar hit would be appreciated. Not having Fairy Bread……I blame your parents 😀 😀 😀

Although I didn’t have fairy bread, I did have bread slathered with sweetened condensed milk. Does that count? 🙂 🙂
LikeLiked by 1 person
Pretty close 🙂 When on a hike for Scouts, we often had tubes of condensed milk and just sucked on them when the need arose 😀

Fairy bread is new to me. Looks pretty but maybe a little too sweet for me. When I was little I used to love toast with butter and brown sugar. It no longer appeals to me.
