Blue #10 – Black and Blue

This months square challenge from Becky: Blue

The theme for July is ‘blue‘, and as always it is totally up to you how you interpret the square theme but here are Beckys suggestions for how we might stay connected on our square adventures this month.

  1. be a ‘Bolt from the Blue’ – something unexpected or surprising
  2. explore ‘Into the wide blue yonder‘ – sky, sea or maybe a location that is appealingly unknown and mysterious
  3. simply be ‘Blue – whether that’s azure, cobalt, sapphire, cerulean, navy, ultramarine, indigo, or turquoise
  4. and there is an extra challenge for those of you up for it – can you manage to combine two of these, or maybe even all three?

Whatever you decide to do, please remember there is a rule if you want to part of the Square Gang and be sure your squares make into the gallery.

I found this little bloke when splitting the firewood. Actually I found him in the wheelbarrow as I was taking the wood inside. Yes it is a scorpion. A small Australian Native Scorpion a Rainforest Scorpion, Hormurus waigiensis I think. It is about 5cm long. Despite it’s reputation of its cousins, the Australian Scorpionaren’t poisonous (I know lets down the reputation of Australia being a deadly place lol)  Even if stings do occur, these are usually just a painful irritation, because none of our known scorpions have fatal venom.

It also helped that once the tray of the wheelbarrow was blue.

  1. You know you say Australia isn’t a deadly place, but this isn’t the first scary creature I’ve seen you post hahaha! 🙂 Glad they’re not poisonous but I would probably still run away if I found that guy!

  2. Cool scorpion photo! I wouldn’t want to encounter one, though. My daughter got stung once – very painful. At my dad’s house a long time ago, they were invading his house, and dropping out of the attic into the rooms below.
Nice song. I almost always like hearing blues tunes. That guy is pretty talented on the mouth organ there. Sure need a lot of breath to keep it going like he did. 🙂
