This is a tale of a fence post, a Spangled Drongo and a Noisy Friarbird  –  as told by the Spangled Drongo.

What started out as a normal day, you know, a bit of flying about, some singing with my mates and looking for insects and other snacks around the place.
I always drop onto this fence post nearly every day. It’s a great perch to see if any insects or bugs are moving about in the garden or on the grass.

And then, out of the blue, this big ugly bloke decides to sit on MY post. Oi, you. Get off my post

Yeah. Right. get down there. This is my post.

Suddenly, he looks at me and of all things, he pokes his tongue out.

Oh I see. You want to make a bit of a do about sitting on my post do you?

    So fun and I am shaking my head to imagine how you were getting these photos -just what you do in unicorn land….
    I enjoyed this very much and could almost hear some rustling with a few photos –

  4. OK, how did you get that bird to look directly at the camera to reaffirm that the post was his???? This is BRILLIANT!!! Awesome captures and you do tell a story well Brian. And you captured him sticking out his tongue?? Amazing. What is that bird anyway?

    1. Thank you Lisa 😀 mostly dumb luck in the bird poses but I do choose words to try and fit the photo. The bird with the tongue is a Noisy Friarbird
