  1. Great shots but I hate to see them. πŸ™‚ The next 17 year brood cycle in the Washington DC area will end in 2021, when a mass infestation is projected. I wasn’t here for the last hatching and I plan on being gone the entire time in 2021. I understand the cover the street and the sidewalks and make a horrific din. πŸ™‚

    1. You made me smile Marie πŸ™‚ I love our Cicadas but yes the cacophony they make is deafening. I live in a forest so imagine the sound that surrounds my home when we have a mass hatching. Luckily I try to attract birds to my place so they gobble down many but it is still deafening at times. A neighbour many years ago was so frustrated he shot his shotgun into the trees and yelled shut up. They were quiet for a short while πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€
