When it comes to fires, it is in the Australian Winter when the fires are most welcome. Summer fires bring dread and foreboding. So Summer is when I dig into the archives to see if there is a fire photo that may fit within Nancy Merrill photographys photo challenge prompt of By Firelight

The fires bring warmth in Winter and also a chance to burn-off some of the fallen debris from the forest that abounds my place. Sometimes I have to reduce the amount of fallen branches and leaves that accumulate around the house and garden.

        3. A Damper is simply sift flour and salt rub in butter until the mixture resembles fine crumbs then make a well to add milk and water. Put into a cast iron pot or wrap in foil, toss into the fire. It’s a bread of sorts 🙂

  5. I love staring into a crackling fire. It’s so hypnotic. I haven’t done it for a very long time though. Years in fact. I love these shots, Brian. They are very calming. I need it today! Thanks. x
